Road Trip To Memphis - Part 4

align="justify">Day three of my trip to Memphis found me at Mid-south coliseum. Elvis performed here in March of 1974, June 1975 and July 1976, this would be the last time Elvis would perform in his hometown.

A view of the main entrance to the coliseum. Below some of the jumpsuits Elvis wore in Memphis in the seventies.

On the left, the jumpsuit Elvis wore on March 17, 1974 evening show was on display across from Graceland in the Vegas display.

In the middle, the Memphis suit, this suit has several names. It is called the Memphis suit by fans because Elvis wore this suit on March 20, 1974. This is the show that RCA recorded. On display at Graceland as part of the behind the scenes tour, this room was Vernon and Dee's room if I remember the tour information correctly.

On the right, this is the suit he wore on June 10, 1975 and also on display in the Vegas part of the tour. This suit is the one featured on Recorded Live on Elvis Presley Blvd. That picture was taken at this concert.

I think this is the exit but there were no signs to say for sure.

A close view of the side doors.

The stairs leading to the theatre.

Another set of doors located on the side of the building.

A couple of pictures of the inside.

A funny thing happened while I was standing at the main entrance taking this picture. A car pulled up behind me, Memphis Police Department. I was after all on private property.

Here is a clipping from a newspaper ad from 1954, when Elvis played at the Overton Park Shell.

The entrance to the cemetery and the tomb where Elvis was first laid to rest.

The people here were very nice and not in the least surprised I was there.

Here is a picture from inside and the tomb he was first laid to rest.
