Presley Afraid Of Dome

HOUSTON (AP) - Elvis Presley indicates he is glad to be back in Texas but says he is rather scared of the Astrodome. "I kind of started out in Texas," the singer said. "I did some of my first shows in Houston and around Houston, Corpus Christi, and Longview. You name 'em, I've played "em."

Elvis arrived by charter plane Wednesday night to prepare for two-a-day Friday through Sunday appearances as guest star at the Houston Livestock Show rodeo in the Astrodome.

"I wanted to get back into live appearances because I wanted the inspiration of live audiences but I'll tell you, that dome has me scared," he said.

Crowds of 40,000 to 45,000 are expected and an aide said Elvis' largest audience to date was one of about 25,000 in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas back in his pelvis days.
